It's a new day and once again I am stuck, not knowing what to write except I don't want to not write, it has been good the past few days and this has been one of the consistent things, trying to write everyday apart from trying to sleep early and wake up early. In fact I can't believe this, but I am not playing civilization because I am afraid I will screw up the sleep cycle and fall back on all my targets. Civilization is this video game which I love playing, it is amazing, it is one the best games I have played, ok not that I have played that many but its is one of the best I have played among the few I have explored thanks to my gamer husband. I think what I particularly like about civilization is that you get to play as a female lead, a great female leader in the past and you learn a bit about history too. I learned about Theodora of Byzantine, who was a prostitute and rose to the position of empress she was married to Justinian, she was his chief advisors, she also has her own court, her own official entourage and official seal. She was the firstEastern Roman Empress to have coinage struck in her name, Wu Zetian of China who was a mistress of the then emperor and became regent queen, she was the only empress regnant (female emperor) in the history of China, Catherine of Russia who staged a coup d' etat overthrowing her husband Peter III and under her rule Russia grew larger and stronger. Learning about these strong and powerful women through Civ 5 was really invigorating. I knew about Elizabeth and Dido thanks to literature. I learned about Jadwiga of Poland, Amanitore of Nubia, Seondeok of Korea, Eleanor of Aquitaine and Catherine of France to name a few in Civ 6.
Known female leaders were Cleopatra and Victoria, again through literature.
I think History doesn't really do justice to its women leaders, I think sating that is an understatement. Most women leaders are not celebrated as much as their male counterparts. Anyway I don't want to go down that path now. What I really liked is how most of them came from humble backgrounds and made it to the top and stayed there. I like how most of these women have been able to defy established norms, and become as powerful as the male rulers. Humble background or not I am sure each of them had their struggle and stood their ground in the face of adversity. It is inspiring to learn about such strong women leaders.
I will probably write amore about it on another day butI will stop here for now.
Have a nice day
